I don't feel like blogging...

...I really don't. I have things to say, but I don't want to take the time and effort to say them. I have a backlog of planned posts, but I don't have the energy to write them, or do even minimal research to make them better. I can post more videos, sure, that doesn't take much, and I can just keep linking to things I find worthy. That's all good, but I sometimes don't feel like I measure up to real blogging standards when that's all I do. Still, even if that was all I did here, it would just be my Skeptical Eye role. You know, the "cut and paste" guy. What's wrong with bringing things to your readers attention that they might not have discovered on their own? You know what's wrong with it? Not a damn thing! And if someone else wrote something far better than I could ever write it, why not just link to their words? All this "put it in your own words" crap gets tiring. Just take a paragraph and link to the rest, because it's already been said, so why say it again.

There are some, however, who feel that they must take the time to write "real" posts. I've nothing against that, but don't look down on a poor, uneducated yokel such as myself. I am not an intellectual, and I'm not going to start trying to be one now. Write your "original" posts, go ahead. But you're not better than me, and you know what, if you find yourself never doing any linking, video embedding or copying and pasting, then you are actually the lesser blogger, because that kind of thing is what blogs were made for.

So what have I been doing? Reading mostly. Though I just watched Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino. I loved the movie, and Eastwood has always been one of my favorite actors and filmmakers. He is not new to directing, having first sat in that chair for 1971's Play Misty For Me, but he still has more talent than a dozen younger directors who churn out the latest "modern audience" fast editing crap like the most recent Star Drek film (more on that later). My only disappointment in Gran Torino was that it could have been a great anarchist film, but Walt had to bring in the police to solve things in the end. And the problem with police is that they belong to a much bigger criminal gang than the traditional "bad guys" (though I don't deny that such rotten apples are truly bad).

Okay, I feel a little better now. Not better enough to write anything substantial, mind you, but better nonetheless.

I think I'm gonna go looking for some more videos to post. See you back here later.

  1. Libertarianism wouldn't exist without Hollywood movies convincing us we should solve our problems with guns. I haven't seen Gran Torino yet, but I think I understand the basic premise, and I'm confident that involving the police would be a wise move.

Also, I wouldn't worry about what "real" blogging is.

I'm not worried. If I was, I would've given this up long ago.

  3. I do my own shit. I mix it up. It's indeed hard to muster up time and energy to write "original" posts and content. Nor do I subscribe much to the "you have to do it this way to make money" cookie cutter bs. I write when I want what I want on my own damn terms. If my traffic is weak because of it so be it.

You'd be frightened at how many posts I didn't post - crap or otherwise.
