Don't Spam Yourself

...because according to the geniuses at Yahoo, it's possible.

I sometimes email something to myself, and the last few times, I get this message and a word verification box from Yahoo mail:

To finish sending this message and help us fight spam, please enter the character string as it is shown in the box below.

Why do I have to do this?

This step helps Yahoo! prevent spammers from using Yahoo! Mail, and helps to ensure that your email will be delivered.

Character string verification technology developed in collaboration with the Captcha Project at Carnegie Mellon University

Maybe they're getting back at me for referring to them as "Yahoo", not "Yahoo!". As Elaine Benes informed us, exclamation points are IMPORTANT!!!
