  2. You too and become a shill for the pharmaceutical industry, SE!

But seriously... you think it's not rationed now? I defy you to get adequate treatment without health insurance OR if your insurance drops you. That affects far more people.

  3. The drug companies will love the government plan, Ginx, it's still very profitable for them.

What do you think of Mike Adams' Health Revolution Petition?

    http://www.healthrevolutionpetition.org/

I think that's a better - maybe not perfect, but better - direction to consider. Both the drug and insurance companies would hate it :D

  4. Ginx,

You've been a faithful commenter here, and I appreciate your point of view.

I am no friend of the drug companies, and would abolish the current Statist patent law and the cozy relationship Big Pharma enjoys with the Feds.

  5. No doubt whatever Democrats come up with will be in the interest of those who put them in power (not voters; pharmaceutical and insurance companies).

I like hybrid systems where the government provides a socialized option free of charge (apparently never going to happen in the US). Then, if you have a good job or a lot of money laying around, you can pay for better care.

The horror stories from nations that use this system are usually linked to another problem: shortage of organs. People can find the doctors to do the operations, there just aren't enough organs to go around. There should be a major push (especially among atheists who don't hold the body to be sacred) to encourage organ donation.

  6. Free of charge = out of the pockets of rich fucks who rarely deserve what they have

  7. Also, you haven't mentioned the one thing I believe they will continue doing (as they've already started): restricting our choices based on perceived health benefits.

You guys are dropping the ball on the fact that Democrats are notorious for making this or that substance or chemcal illegal with little or no evidence to back up the decision. If the govt is paying for healthcare, they have a vested interest in things like preventing smoking, drinking, and drug use.
