Probably one of the evils of "capitalism" in Francois Tremblay's book. I'm sure the Chinese were better off when they didn't have access to so much food. Yeah, prosperity isn't produced in China today due to what they call "capitalism" (and Hosni Mubarek wasn't a dictator). The system may have its evils, but it knows how to spread wealth to the masses.
