Dennis Steele for a Free Vermont

Dennis Steele of the Second Vermont Republic (the first Vermont Republic was founded during the Revolutionary War and existed for 14 years as an independent nation before it joined the Union in 1791, becoming the fourteenth state) runs for governor.

Below you can listen to an interview with Steele on Vermont Public Radio:

Steele’s political philosophy can be summarized by the following statement, “The gods of the American Empire are not the gods of Vermont.” He is committed to the return of Vermont to its status as an independent republic as it was between 1777 and 1791. When he is elected governor, he will call a statewide convention to consider articles of political independence. He will simultaneously do everything in his power to bring home Vermont’s National Guard troops immediately.--from the candidate's campaign website
