Thailand’s so-called “tattoo tourism” may be on its way out.
Culture Minister Niphit Intharasombat wants to ban tourists from getting tattoos with religious themes -- such as ones of Buddha, Ganesh and Jesus Christ.
He says...
“‘It is culturally inappropriate and erodes respect for religion … People with visible religious tattoos who engaged in ‘bad behavior’ such as ‘sitting drinking alcohol and arguing” would damage the faiths through association.’
