There's a big brouhaha in a small town in New Hampshire over a body of water called "Jew Pond". It was so named because a Jewish family owned the hotel next to the pond. People are freaking the hell out ... it's like political correct run amok.
I guess what bugs me the most is that, even if they do vote to change the name, the old timers will stay refer to it as Jew Pond (as in, "Caught me some trout for dinnah up at Jew Pond, ayuh. Wicked pissah."

I don't think you're going to find anyone who knows religious Jews defending them on this matter. Many Jews are unabashedly racist.
