MLK Would Not Support War In Iraq and Afghanistan

Cenk Uygur and MIchael Shure discuss the claim from a Pentagon official that Martin Luther King, Jr. would support the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

An Obama administration official said that nonviolent icon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would "understand" and "recognize" the need for the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan if he were alive today.

In a speech commemorating the late hero days before Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, the Department of Defense's general counsel Jeh C. Johnson imputed highly questionable views to the civil rights leader.

"I believe that if Dr. King were alive today, he would recognize that we live in a complicated world, and that our nation's military should not and cannot lay down its arms and leave the American people vulnerable to terrorist attack," Johnson said.-Pentagon official: Martin Luther King would support Iraq, Afghan wars

Obama, you sick, bloodthirsty, war mongering betrayer of Martin Luther King's legacy!

  1. How disrespectful, to even argue over what his opinions might have been.

  2. Well, we know what his opinions "might have been", from his own words, and his opposition to the Vietnam War.

  3. Disrespectful - what the fuck, every corpse regardless of the date of the new career as root inspector has to earn respect. The above post is reasonable as Nikk responded.

Ted Kennedy is dead and lots of people think his stinking rotten corpse deserves respect - fuck them.

FDR is long dead and rotted and he deserves to be dug up and cemented into a urinal so I can go piss on his corpse.

Even the dead need to earn respect or fall into oblivion.

  4. Right, Ted Kennedy and FDR are the shining examples of bad governance... not Strom Thurmond, or Ronald Reagan (who actualy put us into the debt spiral), or William Rehnquist, or Nixon.

Radio, you are a weird one. Ted isn't even worth mentioning in this discussion, he was such a non-factor.

  5. Bret you assume too much.

I must have been one of the few to curse Reagan when he was in office as a backstabbing twink, Strom T. is for sure not worth mentioning, and Nixon and Rehnquist were never deified...

I was mentioning the deified or semi-deifed, Ted is a special case of partial deification due to his worthless brothers deified corpses.

You just don’t get it - at least most of the time, Oh and fuck Reagan’s rotten corpse - feel better? Too bad his lap dog that disgusting lickspittle Ollie North is not a corpse already.

  6. Naw, I would rather they all live to see the horrible mess they actually made.

It's always old people fucking this country up... maybe we should have an age limit on office and voting. How much responsibility could the elderly possibly take for the future if they won't even be in it? Maybe that's the problem, we have a bunch of greedy old people who have no future refusing to let go.

The worst part? These fucking decrepit pieces of shit get discounts everywhere, they get every advantage, and people assume (even though their minds are usually deteriorating) that they are somehow smarter (unless they want to attach an image to an e-mail).

  7. Ug, it is not old people Bret, it is stupid people...

Young people when it is possible to do something fuck it off in a haze.

Old people have already given up and no longer give a fuck.

If anyone did give a fuck the blood would be ankle deep in the streets with a haunting low level sound of Chant du depart, Chant de guerre pour l'Armee du Rhin, and Ah! sa ira, Le clerge regrette le bien qu il a...

  8. Stupid slacktivism is just as pathetic as stupid old people.

  9. Right, slacktivism is the problem...

I still think we should get rid of the old and bitter. We've never tried it before, so I have a feeling it might actually work.
