"What Happened to Global Warming?"

Skeptics have been saying for decades that the warming from about 1978 to 1998, which was after all only 0.40C, was probably due to natural causes; now AAAS says that the flat or downward trend since 1998 is due to natural causes, which had nothing to do with the rise between 1978 and 1998. They told us that the temperature of the earth would continue to rise, and when it did not, they said, see, our critics were wrong.

People who argue this way are not scientists, but lawyers with a bad case.

  1. Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) (and therefore ACC) is a mistake. All of the global average temperatures are readily calculated for the entire 20th century and until the present with no consideration whatsoever of atmospheric carbon dioxide at http://climaterealists.com/index.php?tid=145&linkbox=true

  2. The global warming issue is one where I must part ways with most of my fellow libertarians.

Sure, many of the global warming alarmists are statist opportunists, but the information in this article is dubious at best.

  3. Thanks for the link, Cork.

I actually don't doubt warming is occurring, but I'm skeptical that humans are the cause (or at least the only cause) of it, and that even if we are responsible for the trend, that there is much we can realistically do to reverse it.

Most of the serious global warming skeptics I've heard of seem to feel that, while real, such periods are natural and cyclical, and not the end of the world.
