According to the Nuclear Resister, arrests at protests have been surging since Obama became President in 2009, with over 2 thousand six hundred political activists arrested. 665 handcuffed and carted off to jail in 2009, 1290 arrested in 2010, and so far this year 670 faced charges of everything from failure to disperse to resisting arrest.
