The TSA chose Meg McLain for special screening. They wanted her to go through the new porno-scanners. When she opted out, TSA agents raised an enormous ruckus. When she asked some question about what they planned to do to her, they flipped out. TSA agents yelled at her, handcuffed her to a chair, ripped up her ticket, called in 12 local Miami cops and finally escorted her out of the airport. 1. If you absolutely, positively must fly, opt out of the scanners. Do it to protect your health and privacy.
2. If you can avoid flying, don’t fly. Hit the airlines in the pocketbook until the scanners and gropers are gone. Make the airlines work for us.
3. Raise holy hell. Register your disapproval of the scanners and gropers to your airline, your hotel and all government officials who claim to work for you. Educate your community.

ReplyDeleteYeah, you pretty much nailed it right there. Terrorist attacks happen so rarely, what's the fucking big deal? I thought X-ray machines were a bit much before 9/11, and I think all the other stuff is just security theatre.
Watch the convincing show, citizens, so you know you government is protecting you. Fear not, everything is under control: we are searching all vaguely middle eastern people, because no white person ever commit violent acts. See, we got your finger nail clippers, those terrorists aren't getting anything through.
Unless, of course, they have someone on the inside who works in baggage handling... or if you used plastic knives to hijack the plane... or if you hid weapons in a wheelchair, since they never check those... or if you just shot a plane out of the sky from the ground using rocket propelled grenades... or if you decided to target buses or trains or any of a number of non-flight transportation... or you could rent a truck, fill it with explosives...
I know this focused on children, but I doubt they'll be as traumatized as rape victims or OCD sufferers or other mentally ill individuals. And frankly, no one should have to endure this ridiculousness.
