The Greatest Speech of Our Times?

I can’t say enough nice things about Bernie Sanders. He is arguably the least corrupt and most sensible Senator the US has seen in my lifetime. Mr. Sanders made me proud to be American for the first time in a while when he held the Senate floor for eight and a half hours on Friday.

Starting last night, I began listening to the speech in its entirety (I imagine I’ll have finished it sometime tonight or tomorrow). You can join my craziness by watching it here.

If you’re less zealous than I am, you can get some of the highlights summarized here.

From the few hours I have heard, I think you’ll be impressed and perhaps shocked at some of what he has to say. I have never heard a Senator speak so candidly, and I frequently have C-SPAN on during the day (because I’m just that boring). It’s a far cry from the innumerable bullshit speeches given by Democrats and Republicans on a daily basis.

  1. Oh right, I forgot how corporatist you guys are. What's it like being the rich's bitch?

  2. I actually like Sanders, though I think he's probably wrong on a lot of things. As for those star ratings, I guess some readers think Sanders speech had a bunch of tomfoolery in it.

Should we just get rid of the star ratings? Anybody? Obviously some people like expressing their opinion about a post that way.

  3. No, I love the star ratings. How else would I know what pussies think of what I wrote?

  4. Do I agree with much of his very long expression of exasperation, yes...

Was it all that original - no, every point and the content could be a typical conversation over joe at my local meeting place over caffeine with our regular group of malcontents.

The rich rule, the oligarchy is intrenched and only the puppets are even given to the public to vote on - it was lost a long time ago, the mercantilists secured the grip on the governments with money the whores love so much.

But I think you would agree that the Senate floor doesn't see many of these conversations.

I agree, and politicians don’t talk about how whorish the job is, I assume the same way hookers in Vegas don’t like talking about how often painful anal sex is provided to make money...

  7. Hookers are pretty open when it comes to talking about not being able to trust a fart.

  8. At least Vegas hookers make an honest living off of real work!

Lots of respect for a professional, political whores on the other hand are just scum...

Yeah, but once Rand Paul takes office...

  11. Rand Paul... you know the guy just made up his own medical accredidation organization so he could fuck with people's eyes, right?

    Don't stomp me, bro!
