Although the Amazon review states: "Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal...align themselves with neither supporters nor opponents of the U.S. involvement. There's no politics here. War is just the job the characters in the movie do" that assertion is belied by Bigelow's "support the troops" pro-state blather.
I thought those Academy members were supposed to be a bunch of left-wing anti-military America-haters. Oh, that's right, I forgot; it's now the Messiah's war, so it has to be good.
You know the left is in trouble when Hollywood even made a movie that "didn't" slam the military as a bunch of backward, southern, bible thumping baby killers, let alone winning a best picture & best director oscar.

ReplyDeleteI think, however, that Hollywood has always made films people want to see. Whether its movies are "right" or "left" however, most of them, when touching on politics, are pro-state.
I'm a libertarian, so I don't fit well into either side of the left/right paradigm (which we need to break free of, in my opinion) and I don't see a great deal of pro-freedom movies from Hollywood. V for Vendetta a few years ago was one of my favorites, though.
