Cooking Blogs For Women Only?

I have a confession to make. I'm not a woman and I yet like cooking and baking blogs! Am I the only male in the blogging world who feels this way? Every time I find a cooking blog (invariably the author of the blog is female) I like, I'm reluctant to follow it because all the followers (and I mean ALL) are women. Take this blog, Jamie Cooks It Up!, for example. It looked right up my alley, but then I said "Holy Wait A Minute!", when I saw not a single male follower was to be found in the followers list.

What gives girls? Are we not welcome? Is our readership of your recipes not wanted? Are we still stuck in a bygone era where a woman's place was in the kitchen? I know feminists tell us otherwise, but by all blogging indications, that's where it appears women want to be.

I hope you don't mind me breaking stereotypes, but that's where I (sometimes) want to be as well.

But I'm still not going out on a limb to be the only man to follow your blogs.

  1. I'm a grumpy old bastard who enjoys cooking and can honestly say I'm a better cook than most of the ladies I know. I haven't done much baking (other than Scottish short bread) but would like to try. I haven't thought of following cooking blogs but would be undeterred by being the only male. Grow some balls man!

And yet you've never followed any? You're right, though. I am going to follow any damn blog I want from now on! I will set my people free! Someone's got to do it.

    Thank you for the inspiration.

  5. Fear not. There are a bunch of great blogs on cooking and a forum or two. I'm the cook and the grocery shopper (troller) in this house and I too make great use of what I find on cooking blogs (and cooking pages on blogs). YouTube has some good cooking channels too. Here are a couple of ones you might like.
