ACT: WikiLeaks

WikiLeaks is literally under attack. The founder and chief of the site has been the target of character assassination and rape charges. The site itself has been attacked by hacktivists in the United States and China. As I write this on Wednesday morning, the site is inaccessible.

There is something you can do to help. When the site (wikileaks.org) is back up and running, donate to them. Give whatever you can, because the money you send will be used to literally fight for freedom. There is a very real battle over information going on, and what WikiLeaks is doing is not only monumentally important, it’s not free.

WikiLeaks receives thousands of pages of unreleased data, which they have readers pore through to classify the data as able to be released, too sensitive to be made public, or simply too mundane to bother. In my mind, WikiLeaks has a lot of integrity. They are working (for free) to prevent the problems that governments across the globe claim will come from the release of this sort of data.

Please consider donating money to WikiLeaks when the site comes back up. Even a single dollar from just 1% of the US population would add up to a substantial sum that could keep WikiLeaks going strong and “in business,” that business being the maintenance of freedom. While much of what they do costs nothing, internet bandwidth and legal battles aren’t cheap.

This is one of those opportunities where you can be a part of something larger than yourself. You can chip in, and every little bit helps, so consider giving to WikiLeaks.

Thanks for your time.

  1. Great post. Every responsible media outlet and newspaper needs to be publishing this stuff like crazy. How many Americans know their government is bombing civilians abroad while blaming the government of Yemen? What the fuck?! Our government is the most arrogant cabal of pigs and murderers known to man.
