Pale Saints formed in 1987, and in my opinion their second album, In Ribbons, tops their debut, The Comforts of Madness, though that assessment is not universally shared. A fantastic collection of great songs, In Ribbons was released in 1992. After the departure of the visionary Ian Masters over creative differences, however, Pale Saints just weren't the same band.
