Crackdown on Homosexuals

“We will not tolerate such behaviors in the country. The constitution is very clear on this issue and men or women found engaging in homosexuality will not be spared,”-Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga

His warning went out to all gay men and women in Kenya: “Any man found engaging in sexual activities with another man should be arrested. Even women found engaging in sexual activities will be arrested.”

The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a difficult time for LGBTI individuals in Kenya, and throughout Africa. Many homosexuals are hiding their identity, fearful of official persecution or private acts of violence at the hands of intolerant neighbors or gangs.
