Ripe Bananas!

...in order to be a global commodity rather than a tropical treat, the banana has to be harvested and transported while completely unripe.

...

What this means is that ripening must then be artificially induced, in a specialized architecture of pressurized, temperature- and atmosphere-controlled rooms that fool the banana into thinking it is still back on the plant in tropical Ecuador. - Spaces of Banana Control

Produced by the United Fruit Company in the 40's, this commercial appeared only in movie theaters, and for over 50 years kept us humming its catchy tune. The voice of Chiquita belongs to MONICA LEWIS. She'll be 90 May 5, 2012. Check out www.monicalewis.com

Don't put them in the fridge? I still see people do that. Hell, I do it sometimes, just cause I'm too lazy to remove my banana from my lunch bag.

And I hate eating a banana that's a little too green. Happens once in a while when you think maybe it's just barely ripe enough, then you discover that no, it's not.

I suppose this post also means it's time to get that new series going that I was planning on, Eddie Goes Bananas!
