I like Max's wry persona but is he serious about "de facto macro economist for the Occupy movement" or is he just being semi-witty?
I'd be the first to say that the flaws and criminal behavior afoot globally in capitalism do not require an "economist" to understand, nor to transition beyond.
I think Max merely wants to paint a happy face on capitalism, rather than transition away from it. I'd guess this is because he has the massive nest egg from his days on Wall Street and can't confront the idea of him needing to disgorge his own profiteering from that criminal past he has.
