HaHaHaHaHaHaHa

Oh, dear, LMAO on this one:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he is worried about protectionist and isolationist views taking root in the Republican Party, particularly in the newly elected group of conservative Republicans. McCain said these views might contribute to dwindling GOP support for the war on terrorism.

...

McCain singled out incoming Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), son of Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), who is known for his non-interventionist stance on foreign policy. The younger Paul, McCain said, has already talked about cuts to defense spending, causing the senior Republican to worry.-McCain Worried About ‘Protectionism and Isolationism’ in GOP

So, McCain isn't worried about the cost in dollars and lives of the endless wars that he supports, but that his precious military-industrial complex might have to tighten its belt a little. Sadly, McCain will probably get his wish, and no real cuts in military spending or change in the aggressive and dangerous U.S. foreign policy will occur.

Anti War Protester Thrown To The Ground Trying To Approach Senator McCain

The woman was holding a protest sign in both hands and never laid a hand on anyone, but she's a mere peasant, not one of the ruling elite like John McCain, so of course the state's hired thugs can push her to the ground and it's not assault and battery. Merely lightly touch one of the clown-costumed thugs, however, and you've committed a serious crime:

Travis Lamont, the costumed government enforcer who assaulted Daniel Daley outside an Orlando bar on the morning of September 18, is 26 years old. His victim is 84 years old and uses a walker. Lamont, as a member of the state’s enforcement caste, was armed. Daley was not.

Eyewitnesses to the assault insist that the elderly man never harmed or threatened Lamont in any way. His “offense” was to grab the younger male’s shoulders to balance himself when he stumbled. This “assault” supposedly justified a violent attack in which Lamont body-slammed the elderly man head-first into the pavement.

In his report, Lamont claims that Daley “cocked his right hand back as if to throw a punch”; the officer “feared a physical attack was imminent,” to he “directed him [Daley] to the ground with an arm bar technique…. In the process of directing the subject to the ground, the right side/top forehead [of the victim] struck the pavement.” Apparently, Lamont “directed” the old man so forcefully that witnesses on the scene feared that they had just witnessed an act of homicide.

Eyewitness Sean Hill recalls the sickening noise made when Daley’s head collided with the asphalt: “Like a watermelon — pop!”-Orlando Police Prepare to Charge Victim of Police Assault

It's all good though, cause the state is there to prevent the horrors of anarchy.

Conservatism Is Dead

For all intents and purposes, conservatism--as a national movement--is completely and thoroughly dead. Barack Obama did not destroy it, however. It was George W. Bush and John McCain who destroyed conservatism in America.

Soon after G.W. Bush was elected, it quickly became obvious he was no conservative. On the contrary, George Bush has forever established himself as a Big-Government, warmongering, internationalist neocon. Making matters worse was the way Bush presented himself as a conservative Christian. In fact, Bush's portrayal of himself as a conservative Christian paved the way for the betrayal and ultimate destruction of conservatism (something I also predicted years ago). And the greatest tragedy of this deception is the way that Christian conservatives so thoroughly (and stupidly) swallowed the whole Bush/McCain neocon agenda.

For example, Bush and his fellow neocons like to categorize and promote themselves as being "pro-life," but they have no hesitation or reservation about killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people in reckless and unconstitutional foreign wars.

Consider, too, the way Bush and McCain have allowed the international bankers on Wall Street to bilk America's taxpayers out of trillions of dollars. Yes, I know Obama also supported the Wall Street bailout, but it was the Republican Party that controlled the White House for the last eight years and the entire federal government for six out of the last eight years. In fact, the GOP has won seven out of the previous ten Presidential elections. They have controlled Supreme Court appointments for the past thirty-plus years. They have appointed the majority of Treasury secretaries and Federal Reserve chairmen. They have presided over the greatest trade imbalances, the biggest deficits, the biggest spending increases, and now the worst financial disaster since the Great Depression.

After

Well, our long national nightmare is over, and I refer to both the endless presidential campaign and the horrors of the Bush administration. If McCain had somehow been able to pull off a victory we would have surely faced at least four more years of war and even "other wars", in McShame's own words. We would have looked forward to continued total disregard of civil liberties and the continued expansion of executive power (which, after all, the right no longer fears as long as a good patriotic Republican is in the oval office fighting those evil terrorists and keeping us safe, you betcha). But the economy, and the unpopular Iraq fiasco, and the weariness with the idiot-in-chief, could lead to no other result than what we witnessed on election night.

This election was a referendum on John McCain's brand of enthusiastic interventionism and his volcanically warlike temperament, and it was a stunning repudiation of both. Iraq, Iran, the wilds of the Caucasus – what was distinctive about the McCainiac foreign policy was the wide range of his potential targets. Al-Qaeda often seemed to take second or even third place on his enemies list, with the Iranians and the Russians taking first and second respectively.
- A Mandate to End the War

On the issue of civil liberties, the question is, will things improve under an Obama presidency? This is one area where "liberal" judges would be a blessing, so let us hope President Obama appoints a few who stand up for the individual against the awful and terrifying police powers of the state. Lew Rockwell explores these questions in an interview with Judge Andrew Napolitano, an analyst for Fox news and author of A Nation of Sheep.

From the interview

It's hard to believe that the record could get worse than it was under Bush.

I have, of course, profoundly criticized the Bush administration; the Patriot Act 1 and Patriot Act 2, the new FISA law, these run rampant over basic First Amendment, Fourth Amendment, Fifth Amendment, Sixth Amendment liberties.

I would like to think that President-elect Obama, as a lawyer, as a constitutional scholar, as a professor of law at the University of Chicago (where respect for individual liberties I know is taught in the law school) I hope would have a healthier respect for the Constitution than John McCain would.

Lew: We can certainly hope that things like the Military Commissions Act and all the rest of the horrible tyranny that Bush undertook and that have been repudiated in this election, I mean this election is in fact a defeat of George W. Bush much more so than McCain.

Judge Napolitano: In terms of the Military Commissions Act, that's a good example, because Barak Obama not only voted against it, he argued against it on the floor of the United States Senate. Those powers (of the MCA) are truly dictatorial... which gives the President the power to incarcerate after acquittal. There's no other act, anywhere in the history of western law, in fact I don't even know anything like it the history of law anywhere on the planet, that would allow the prosecuting entity to incarcerate the defendant after the court has found the defendant not guilty. But that Military Commissions Act of '06 does give the President the power to do it.

War Criminal Bush Signing the Military Commissions Act

Of course, Obama will inevitably disappoint, especially those among his most devoted followers.

How could he not, with expectations so high and virtual messiah status conferred upon him. We can hope, but I fear not for much. I did not vote this time, in fact I stopped voting after 2000, when Bush the younger failed to pan out (a more humble foreign policy and all that) but I did root, for as with a football game, it's just more fun that way. Besides, the election of McSame would have rewarded the Republican party, and after all that rotten shell of stinking neocon refuse has done to the country these last eight years, that could not be allowed to happen. And so we enter the age of Obama. Out of the starting gate it does not look too good, with the appointment of Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff.

Emanuel, with Pelosi's blessing, famously blocked antiwar Democrats from running for the House in 2006 (he controlled the money for new candidates). Emanuel is an advocate of endless war in the Middle East. No chickenhawk, during the Gulf War, he volunteered as a civilian worker for the Israeli army. source.

Still, it is going to be a relief after the nightmare of the Bush years. For a few months, anyway.

All They've Got Left?

The pathetic McCain/Palin cultists are now urging their invisible sky god to intervene and save their disgraced party from the defeat it so richly deserves. Laugh at them if you want to, but keep in mind that these nut jobs have become true believers, not in conservatism, or small government values, or the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, but in a strange cult of militarism and leader worship (first Bush the Decider and now John "Bomb Iran" McCain and his ditzy sidekick, Sarah "Perhaps So" Palin) and America as God's special pet that can do no wrong.

Lord, we thank You for answered prayers for sarah palin and we now humbly ask You to bless john mccain with a spirit of great courage and fill him with a holy fire to speak boldly in defense of what is right and in defense of america.
protect john mccain, Father, and give him great favor with the people and let them see a strong leader who will serve america and her people with wisdom and stand against the evil that wants to destroy america. let him speak the truth about obama and not hold back. fill john mcccain and all of us with a mighty warrior’s spirit to fight the socialist evil that wants to destroy america.

Lord, give us all a desire to do Your will. please bless all the prayer warriors who are praying. we humbly ask all these things and thank You in Jesus’ Holy Name....amen

Unless something happens to change the current trend, on election day judgement will be passed and justice will be done, but it won't be to the "prayer warriors" liking. Their worthless prayers will be about as effective at turning back the tide of the righteous verdict of the American people as they are at stopping hurricanes and healing cancer. A cancer will be removed, of course, but it will be the cancer of the neocons and of the once mighty GOP they helped to destroy. If God exists he is watching with great amusement as those who dare to speak in his name are humiliated by his instrument of their destruction, Hurricane Obama.

Time for another Blog of the Moment. Since it's Halloween, I couldn't resist this one.

It Would Be Scary

It is also election weekend, and though these two posts from It Would Be Scary on the Democratic and Republican candidates are not very insightful or all that interesting, in the spirit of the day, I link to them below.

Right Wing Anti -True Consevative Epic Fail

You are going to lose this one, you know it, you can feel it. The Red-State fascist agenda of an ever bigger, more intrusive Federal government is going down to defeat on November 4th. The war in Iraq will not end, at least not for awhile, but maybe we will have a better chance of bringing the troops home before another 100 years have gone by. Maybe some of our civil liberties will be restored, and maybe a few of the Bush administration criminals will be prosecuted (though don't count on it). We will face horrendous financial and other difficulties and maybe the Democrats will truly screw things up beyond your best expectations. Wait it out and you will be back in power, possibly in only four years. You will scream and shout (as you and your crazy talk radio show hosts did throughout eight years of Clinton/Gore) but I would suggest you put some of that energy to better use. Look within to what went wrong, return to real small-government principles, and maybe you will deserve to win another national election. Maybe.

Currently you are focused on irrelevancies, such as Obama's birth certificate. Give it up. Your fevered fantasies will go nowhere. Come up with real arguments and then fight like there is no tomorrow. Do that and I will almost certainly join you.

John McCain Is A Liberal Gun Grabber

According to Gun Owners of America. His most recent grade on gun rights? F-.

Uh, Oh!

Have you seen this? If you have not read it then you need to, pronto! What will happen if a confirmed mad man is elected to the most powerful office in the land, and he's not even constitutionally eligible to hold the office?

Senator McCain was born in 1936 in the Canal Zone to U.S. citizen parents. The Canal Zone was territory controlled by the United States, but it was not incorporated into the Union. As requested by Senator McCain's campaign, distinguished constitutional lawyers Laurence Tribe and Theodore Olson examined the law and issued a detailed opinion offering two reasons that Senator McCain was a natural born citizen. Neither is sound under current law. The Tribe-Olson Opinion suggests that the Canal Zone, then under exclusive U.S. jurisdiction, may have been covered by the Fourteenth Amendment's grant of citizenship to "all persons born . . . in the United States." However, in the Insular Cases, the Supreme Court held that "unincorporated territories" were not part of the United States for constitutional purposes. Accordingly, many decisions hold that persons born in unincorporated territories are not Fourteenth Amendment citizens. The Tribe-Olson Opinion also suggests that Senator McCain obtained citizenship by statute. However, the only statute in effect in 1936 did not cover the Canal Zone. Recognizing the gap, in 1937, Congress passed a citizenship law applicable only to the Canal Zone, granting Senator McCain citizenship, but eleven months too late for him to be a citizen at birth. Because Senator John McCain was not a citizen at birth, he is not a "natural born Citizen" and thus is not "eligible to the Office of President" under the Constitution.

Is Obama a Socialist?

My conclusion is that Obama is not a socialist, any more than McCain is a socialist. Though their rhetoric differs (in non-essential ways), they both advocate some mixture of statism and capitalism. Both will increase the size of the federal government. Both support government intervention in the banking system, as we saw a few weeks ago. Both support welfare, Medicare, and Social Security. Both support reducing "emissions" to save Mother Earth. On nearly every major policy issue, Obama and McCain are indistinguishable.

Pure Socialism

I was watching John McCain's stump speech this morning and was struck by the pure hypocrisy of it. Yeah, Obama is a socialist because of his exchange with Joe the "Plumber", but then McCain repeats his pledge to buy up all the nation's bad mortgages because if the house next door to you is foreclosed on it will drive the price of your house down. But wait a minute, wasn't inflated housing prices "the housing bubble" a major contributor to this current economic crisis? Now John McCain wants to keep housing prices from going down more and wants to prop up the market through government intervention. He also said he wants people to keep their homes (at taxpayer expense) but what about renters who chose not to get into the housing market at the height of bubble mania? Their taxes will now subsidize foolish people who made bad decisions. I call that pure socialism! McCain also accused Obama of wanting to spend another trillion dollars, without mentioning, of course, his 100 years in Iraq policy, meaning McCain doesn't want to leave that country until we have achieved "victory" and of course we never will, as he has never explained what "victory" is. How much will continuing our occupation there cost the taxpayers, at least another trillion or two?

John "Acorn" McCain

U.S. Senator John McCain's recent attacks on the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), are puzzling given his historic support for the organization and its efforts on behalf of immigrant Americans. As recently as February 20, 2006, Senator McCain was the keynote speaker at an ACORN-sponsored Immigration Rally in Miami, Florida at Miami Dade College - Wolfson Campus....

Between the Buttons

Laurence Vance said:

A new low, however, is the wearing of McCain/Palin campaign buttons to church. This is very disturbing. I never remember Christians wearing Reagan buttons, Bush Sr. buttons, or Bush Jr. buttons to church--even though many Christians voted for these men because they were Republicans. On second thought, if I had a picture of McCain on a button with a red line through his face and the words "war criminal" underneath, I might just wear it.

Back in February I posted a link to a site with anti-Insane McCain stuff, including a button with a line through the face of McMussolini. However, I like the war criminal/warmonger one better. Vance found it here.

Or there's always this one for those who don't think voting is a good idea.

John McJerk

Bailout Rip Off! (and Obama's Mistake II)

Just some thoughts on the rotten, smelly bailout that is of course necessary to save the economy and the average joe (of course, the average joe is not buying any of it). The lying criminal in the White House addressed the nation, but his lies won't stand, even if the bailout goes ahead and is not blocked by my new temporary heroes, the House Republicans, who are finally starting to act like real conservatives on something.

The Liar in 2003 and 2008

Meanwhile House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says that the rotten, evil bailout "has to happen" (in other words, she sides with criminal Bush and his gang of theives in their attempt to pull off a massive heist of the taxpayers) while at the same time accusing the House Republicans of blocking it. The Democrats are utter and complete hypocrites, and their go-along with the fat cats candidate Obama isn't much better. They can pass their rip off bill without the House Republicans, but that would not give them political cover, so they point the finger at those remaining in our national government with at least a little principle and conviction left. If this is the national emergency that all those wanting quick action say it is, then why don't they just go ahead and pass the god damned thing and tell the House Republicans to go screw themselves? This includes you too, Mr. Suspending My Campaign McCain. Why did John McCain consider it an emergency requiring immediate action (read Rip Off 700 Billion or more Bailout) unless he too cares nothing about the taxpayers and also sides with the fat cats? The truth is this is another phony crisis (as presented by the ruling class; there is a real crisis but the bailout is not the solution), just like the WMDs of Saddam Hussein. But it must be passed to save Bush's Wall Street pals. That's the only emergency. It must be rushed through before the people discover what a total scam it is (they are already learning this) and before anyone can think it through. John McCain you old fraud! Shame Shame Shame!

Then we have the I'm Trying Very Hard To Lose This Election Barack Obama. Can any of these Democratic Party fools read the public and the polls? If Obama had come right out and said he was against this steaming pile of dog crap of a bailout he would be a working class hero right about now (and perhaps be way ahead in the polls) . But we can't expect anything so creative or original (or right) from the nominee of the fake "party of the people", can we?

Obama Needs His Own Daisy Commercial

Because this time the threat is real.

Thinking the Unthinkable

The dangers of a nuclear war have receded from the public's mind since the fall of Soviet communism in 1989. But since the ill-advised invasion of South Ossetia by Georgian troops, and the swift response of Russia, the bellicose talk by American leaders means that the very real possibility of nuclear war must again be considered by every adult American.

Last week, in a clear warning to the United States, Russia flew nuclear-capable bombers to Venezuela. The US, for its part, has sent naval vessels to the Black Sea, and is striving to make Georgia and Ukraine part of NATO. The Bush administration has been pushing to place missile interceptor systems in Poland, on Russia's border.

Conservatives still shake their heads over the 1964 anti-Goldwater "Daisy" television commercial, which showed a girl counting petals from a daisy as a mushroom cloud appeared in the distance. That commercial frightened Americans and helped elect Lyndon Johnson.

There is little doubt that John McCain is a hot-tempered man, given to volcanic bouts of profanity and anger. It seems possible that his long captivity in Hanoi induced a form of "frontal lobe disorder," a labile mood disorder characterized by impaired executive functioning, as well as disinhibition, emotional instability, aggression, irritability or impulsiveness. He has made asinine jokes about bombing Iran, and bizarrely declared that "we are all Georgians now."

Such a man, no matter his war service, is clearly unfit for the presidency. Sarah Palin, an individual with no foreign policy expertise, has recently said that war with Russia may be necessary. Such an idiotic statement should immediately disqualify her for the Vice Presidency.

This election is not about family values, or the color of Sarah Palin's lipstick or Barack Obama's skin. It is about navigating our way through these treacherous minefields without finding ourselves at war with Russia.

Do we really want the hot-tempered McCain, whose campaign chair is a paid lobbyist for Georgia, or the clueless Sarah Palin, sitting by the red phone, and by the nuclear football?

I think it imperative, and very possibly a matter of national survival, that Barack Obama, and not John McCain, becomes president. Yes, it will mean higher taxes and boondoggle social programs and yes, he has called for more troops in Afghanistan and waffled on any number of key issues.

But Obama, or even Joe Biden, will be better able to act prudently in a time of crisis and not plunge our country into a war with Putin's Russia. We should seek friendship with Russia, not war.

Senator Thad Cochran of Mississippi, who has known Senator John McCain for more than three decades...endorsed Mitt Romney for president. Cochran said his choice was prompted partly by his fear of how McCain might behave in the Oval Office.

"The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine," Cochran said about McCain by phone. "He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."

Palin: War with Russia? Perhaps So!

"These are the stakes, to make a world in which all of God's children can live, or to go into the dark. We must either love each other, or we must die."

LBJ's words suddenly ring true.

Does McCain Support the Troops?
