On the London Riots

Because events are literally still unfolding as I write this, I am restraining myself and limiting my comments on the riots to what little we know now. So, this will be short and sweet.

Basically, the spark was police brutality, the fuel was class warfare being waged against the young and poor, while the people standing around roasting marshmallows are the looters.

I think far more is being made of riots than is warranted. I mean, the devastation is worth reporting, but I feel that most of the looting is opportunistic, not politically or racially motivated. It almost seems like people wish it had more meaning and significance than what I think it has deserved thus far.

As for talk of this spreading to America… don’t hold your breath. Maybe in December when unemployment benefits are set to run out.
