Is the left killing itself with its own idiocy?

Call me crazy, but I suspect that if the Democrats had any brains….and I mean any brains whatsoever, they just might have been able to pass their “universal health care” scheme. Heck, Obama had some good approval ratings early on.

That is, if the Democrats showed moderates that they could govern with even the slightest hint of fiscal sanity or integrity, much of the country might have accepted (or grudgingly gone along with) a universal health care plan. Instead, Democrats (and Obama in particular) chose to piss away all of their political capital on complete and utter bullshit. They have done everything humanly possible to convince moderates that everything government attempts will be a reckless, gigantic, nauseatingly expensive clusterfuck (not that there is anything inaccurate about that perception).

If it were a conversation, it would go like this:

Moderate voter: Alright, I suppose that I might be willing to give this ‘universal health care’ thing a shot. As long as it won’t be the massive, inefficient, bureaucratic mess that conservatives keep warning about.

Democrat: Great! Well first we’ll spend a couple trillion on ‘stimulus’ packages. Then we’ll spend trillions more to bail out corporations. Of course, we’ll still need trillions more for excessive pork, foreign wars, government employees and pure random waste. Not to worry, though. After the country is bankrupt and nearing financial armageddon, we’ll give you some lame-ass “halfway” healthcare program, which will also be mind-numbingly expensive and ineffective…

Moderate voter: You know what? Screw it. I don’t want it anymore.

Democrat: Racist!

We can only be happy that the Democrats’ own political stupidity has helped kill one of their more sinister plans.

Snickers 100 Calorie Bars? Try 80

Sorry, Snickers, but I do need to bar some hunger, and for starters that means not consuming one of your great candy bars. After all, the King Size version has enough calories to sustain two people for about a week.

But I was in Target yesterday (while on a walk, stay tuned for full report) and saw something that caught my eye when I turned to the candy aisle.

I have so far resisted the over-priced "100 calorie" packaging trend (I'm still waiting for McDonalds to come out with a sack of 100 calorie Big Macs- though they probably would each be about the size of a dime) but now you have 100 calorie Snickers in a handsome little box. A masterpiece of marketing! You almost fooled me. Even at the ridiculous price of $3.00 a box, I nearly grabbed a couple. I saw there were 7 little Snickers in each box, but then, after a moments reflection, I remembered that there are already "bite-sized" candy bars on the market. I only had to literally turn around and there before me were packages of eight little Snickers for only $1.00. True, those are only 80 calories each, not 100, but you get one more bar than the box offers, and I don't mind sacrificing 20 calories to save two bucks.

Looks like I've triumphed over the 100 calories gimmick once again!

Another idiot prays to Jeebus while his daughter dies

He's being charged with homicide. Not that it'll bring his daughter back.

Carl Sagan, Christian Apologist

Due to "technical difficulties" I haven't been able to access the Internet from home the past couple of days, so some things I've wanted to post have been delayed. In the meantime, I noticed I had saved this video for possible posting. It was just sitting in draft stage (I wasn't sure it was truly worthy), but, what the hell, I'll post it now.

Oh boy

This latest anti-capitalist rant from Tremblay is really over the top. Some highlights:

So why trust the system with your welfare, and your children's future. This system has failed. It will continue to fail. Is it really crating 4 million jobs? I very much doubt it, but even if it does, this country lost 5 million in a year.
Yeah, I know. Our worker will be re trained. To do what? The new jobs they're talking about will be highly skilled. Can everyone realistically be made into an engineer? Even if people are re trained, so what. No matter how good you are, you will NOT be hired by anybody for anything at 55 years of age. Most of the people losing out, are older workers. Capitalist society uses people, then discards them as they become more expensive, and less productive. Faithful service means nothing. Look at the plight of the common working stiff. Worker, are you valued by your boss? Enough to keep your job as you age? Our leaders want foreign slave labor, because to them money is god, and profit a form of worship.

This society is sick with greed. Its like a cancer eating away at us. Unless [we] find some other cause or way of life, our greed will destroy us, as it almost has now. Stuff doesn't matter! Soulless, lifeless things don't matter. People caring for each other is what matters. Especially family. Strong family ties will see a society thru, no matter what evil befalls them. Do the greedy care about anything but wealth? I sure haven't seen it. The rich and powerful, will always love their millions over their own people. Our country is living proof of this. Companies are still importing goods from overseas, as our own workers go hungry and homeless. Capitalism is EXPLOITATION, no more, no less. What can you expect of a system that encourages people to beat each other out to gain stuff. All the while those who lose suffer in deprivation.

This country is a land of want. The poor want to survive. The rich want everything, at the cost of the poor's very existence.

Whoops...did I say this rant was written by Tremblay? Just kidding. It's actually from the American Nazi Party. (I removed or replaced the few uses of the word "white.")

Can't tell the difference? I don't blame you.
