Do You Suffer From PDS?

Are you a conservative?  Do you suffer from Paul Derangement Syndrome or PDS?  If you are not sure, here are following list of the symptoms:

  • Do often refer to Ron Paul supporters as “Paulbots” or “Ronulons”?  Do you refer to Ron Paul himself as “RuPaul”?
  • Do you like to say that Ron Paul blames the United States for 9/11, even though he has referred specifically to the foreign policy of the United States government?
  • Do you say he is an anarchist because of his associations with Lew Rockwell and because many of his ideas came from Ludwig Von Mises and Murray Rothbard?
  • Do you say he is a racist because of the articles published in his name while overlooking that he has admitted his own failure in properly editing the magazines in question?
  • Do you constantly say he cannot win despite polling data that tends to argue otherwise?
  • Do you state that you will not vote for him, even if that means another four years of President Obama?
  • Do you bash his followers and demand that Ron Paul denounce them even though they are spread across the entirety of the Internet?
  • Do believe he is out to destroy the Republican party, even though you are disgusted with the current Republican party’s actions with Obamacare and the debt ceiling?
  • Do you agree with Ron Paul 90% of the time, but would rather vote for someone who you agree with 75% of the time?

If you are a conservative and suffer from any one of the above symptoms, then you may be a PDS sufferer.  Unfortunately, there is no treatment for such a problem, not even a swift kick to the head, as your resentment and hatred runs too deep.  The best cure you can hope for is to fake reasonable arguments with Paul supporters online and eventually you may find yourself making well-reasoned arguments against him, rather than knee-jerk, reactionary insults.

PDS is not to be confused with RWDS or Right Wing Derangement Syndrome, which is a common affliction of Left-wing Statists.

Son of the Hulk

I just recently saw the "rebooted" Hulk movie The Incredible Hulk, and I'm still not sure I liked it better than Ang Lee's 2003 version, simply titled Hulk.

So I'm waiting anxiously to see what they'll do with a feature length film of "Son of the Hulk!" (that exclamation point is my own little touch; I really should be in the marketing department at a major studio - genius, pure genius!)

Excitement Growing Among Beatles Fans For Paul McCartney's Funeral

Selection of the location for Paul McCartney's funeral is generating anticipation for the mourning period following his death.

"Many fans hoping they will be the first to tell others in their office about McCartney's death"

Yeah, what is it about that? People want to be the first to tell everyone around them the shocking news, and they seem to have an almost smile on their face that they beat you to it. When Michael Jackson died, some guy at work was looking at the Drudge Report and announced to the whole office that "Hey, Michael Jackson is dead!" He was pretty happy the rest of the day, too.

Religions of the World

  • Taoism: Shit Happens
  • Hinduism: This Shit Happened Before
  • Islam: If Shit Happens, Take A Hostage
  • Buddhism: When Shit Happens Is It Really Shit?
  • Seventh Day Adventist: Shit Happens On Saturday
  • Protestantism: Shit Won't Happen If I Work Harder
  • Catholicism: If Shit Happens, I Deserve It
  • Jehovah's Witness: Knock, Knock, "Shit Happens"
  • Judaism: Why Does Shit Always Happen To Me?
  • Hare Krishna: Shit Happens Rama Rama Ding Dong
  • Atheism: No Shit
  • T.V. Evangelism: Send More Shit
  • Rastafarianism: Let's Smoke This Shit

So let's say that you're not a believer in a particular faith or religion at this time, but that you've come to believe that there might be more to the world than atheism suggests (no, I'm not talking about myself) and you conclude that if there is a God, He/She has probably spoken to us. Some crackpot "philosopher" might make the argument that the Christian scriptures, even if flawed, are more reliable and believable than the Koran for example; that might be an argument for choosing Christianity over another religion simply because it comes "closer" to whatever must be the truth about God. I reject such silliness outright. Searching for the ultimate truth about reality and the meaning of life in what are obviously ancient human-created documents that were not written with any objectivity in mind, but instead to give support to a belief system that the authors had already committed to, is a waste of time.

So few seem able, as in the political realm regarding the state, to think outside these little boxes of human construction. I can easily imagine God, if I were of a mind to, as not having inspired any religion or "revelation". God would just be God, but not a god small enough to conform to the delusions of the religious devotee.

Throw The Bums In

Halloween and the midterm elections are coming, and we all know which is more frightening. Uncle Jay can't help being nervous, but he's not nearly as nervous as some politicians. They might have to actually start looking for the jobs they haven't created.

A Gallup poll found that a majority of voters disapprove of last year’s economic stimulus package, the auto industry bailout, health care reform, and the banking industry bailout.

The bank bailout was the least popular, with only 37 percent approval. In fact, of major legislative initiatives over the last two years, only the financial reform bill breaks the 50 percent approval mark. Congress has struggled to keep approval ratings around 20 percent for the last year, and a poll earlier in the year showed that only 8 percent of Americans polled wanted the members of Congress to be re-elected.

Those stats sounds pleasingly catastrophic for the political status quo, and nothing makes professional election watchers happier than the words blowout, sweep, sea change, or a chance to use the phrase throw the bums out in a headline.

But before everyone succumbs to election season delirium, it’s worth taking a moment to remember that no matter how peeved the American population fancies itself, no matter how dramatic a change of partisan control in one or both houses might seem, one thing is certain: The vast majority of the current Congress can count on returning to Washington and business as usual.

‘Throw the bums out’ harder than it looks

If Religions Were Real

2 Kings 2:23-24:

23 Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” 24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.

Onion News Network: Coping Tips from Stouffers

The Unsustainable Man

"The very future of Doug Mahoney is in jeopardy," said preservationist Barbara Schean, adding that Mahoney has eroded at an alarming rate since the realization that he is almost 40 set in last May. "By our calculations, his most nutrient-rich layers will be washed away by the end of the decade, leaving little more than a desiccated, middle-aged wasteland."

Throughout his life, experts say, Mahoney has been repeatedly exploited and cut down by those in search of personal gain, most notably asshole bosses, manipulative friends, and several ex-girlfriends. Still, the rampant abuse of the 39-year-old continues, with recent findings indicating that it may not be long until Mahoney is wiped off the face of the earth.

"He's being sucked completely dry," said ecologist Charles Stephenson, who claimed that Mahoney's degradation was exacerbated by such factors as being passed over for a promotion twice, and only finding comfort in his three nightly glasses of Jack Daniels. "Large businesses alone have utterly ravaged Doug, burning through the nonrenewable employee as they please."
