Ken O'Keefe on what the NDAA will do to America
Posted by
Nick
Khader Adnan had been arrested by Israeli authorities eight times before, but this time it'd gone too far. He was suspected of being an active part of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which Israel sees as a terrorist group. Adnan was been detained and no charges were filed against him.-http://youtu.be/3TFwkjN3KB8
There will be that many more people around the world who will see what Israel really is, a truly rogue state that is threatening the safety and security of all people on this planet not just the Palestinians, saber rattling with Iran, tempting a third world war and potential nuclear armageddon, this is the state of Israel-Ken O'Keefe
The social media efforts which recently brought global attention to Palestinian nonviolent resistance (Khader Adnan) and to the impact of Israeli occupation on Palestinian intimate and family relationships (Love Under Apartheid) did not do so by chance. Neither effort could have succeeded without a sound understanding of several key social media concepts. -Social Media Principles Behind the Khader Adnan and Love Under Apartheid Campaigns
Khader Adnan will reportedly be released in April, assuming no new evidence is introduced to uphold the assessment that he is a high-risk threat as a member of Islamic Jihad. He has ended his hunger strike after his lawyers and the High Court of Justice worked out this arrangement.
Adnan's case, as numerous commentators rightly note, has drawn attention to Israel's practice of administrative detention. But by promising to release Adnan, the Israeli government headed off what could have been an embarrassing political and legal debacle.-Why Israel freed Khader Adnan

Arab League Backs Palestinian Bid for Statehood

“There should be a clear, international consensus firmly embedded in international law that the 1967 boundaries are the boundaries of the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as our capital. This would certainly mean that these are not disputed territories, therefore up for grabs, therefore up for Israeli annexation and greed."

"Judaism Yes, Zionism No": Ultra-Orthodox Jews March Against Israel
Posted by
Nick
The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians in the Middle East still shows little sign of a peaceful resolution. But in New York, there's a group of ultra orthodox Jews, who are devoted to the Palestinian struggle. And as Marina Portnaya discovered, they believe an end to the State of Israel is the only solution.

Ken O'Keefe: Samouni Family Olive Tree Orchard in Gaza
Posted by
Nick
I want us to do one small thing for this family, to plant one Olive Tree for each family member murdered, on Samouni Family land. I would like to plant one larger tree to represent the spirit of the entire family. If possible we will look to create some sort of plaque for each tree with the name of the family member.
If we do this it will be a gift from all the people of conscience outside of Palestine.
If we do this it will be a gift from all the people of conscience outside of Palestine.
January 12, 2011 is a day I will never forget, visiting the Samouni family could not possibly be anything but a life-changing event. Words simply cannot describe the devastation wrought upon this family by a marauding band of Israeli psychopaths, otherwise known as the Givati Brigade of the Israeli Defence Forces.
Today my team heard from mothers and fathers and children the story of the hell on Earth created by Operation Cast Lead. Twenty-nine people were killed in this family, children shot in front of parents, parents shot in front of children, a group of 97 in one home blasted to bits by rockets and mortars. Made to live amongst the mutilated and dead for several days, ambulances were kept away and some died slowly over hours and even days.
If you knew the details of this story you would conclude as one mother did, those soldiers that committed these acts, could not be considered human. These were demons with the latest high-tech weapons, courtesy of the US tax-payer and if the good people of the US knew what was done in their name here, they would be sick to their stomachs. Shame on all of us for allowing this to happen and to go completely unpunished.

Auschwitz Survivor Speaks Out Against Israel's Human Rights Record
Posted by
Nick
Auschwitz survivor Dr. Hajo Meyer talks about the differences between the Nazi's treatment of the Jews and the Palestinians today.
Meyer expresses in impassioned terms his dismay at what he sees as the moral collapse of contemporary Israeli society and the worldwide Jewish community as a whole. Meyer is a member of "A Different Jewish Voice," a Dutch-based, secular Jewish movement that dares to openly criticize Israel's policies toward the Palestinians. In his observations, deeply colored by his personal experiences during the Holocaust, Meyer compares Israel's current policies with the early stages of the Nazis' persecution of the German Jews. He clearly explains that he is in no way seeking to draw a parallel between the current policies of Israel and the Nazis' endgame, which resulted in the mass murder of six million innocent people. He is merely trying to point out the slippery slope that eventually led to this catastrophe, and the necessity of foreseeing the possible consequences of a policy that oppresses and marginalizes the Palestinians in their own homeland. As a result of his experiences in Auschwitz, Hajo Meyer claims to have learned one fundamental lesson: that his moral duty as a human being was to never become like his oppressors. The End of Judaism is the outcry of a dissident Jew who is not afraid of standing up to entrenched ways of thinking about history and particularly about the Palestinian conflict, which is one of the most intractable social and political problems in the world today.

The Vision of Rachel Corrie
Posted by

Rachel Aliene Corrie (April 10, 1979 – March 16, 2003) was an American member of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). She was crushed to death in the Gaza Strip by an Israel Defence Forces (IDF) bulldozer when she was kneeling in front of a local Palestinian's home, thus acting as a human shield, attempting to prevent IDF forces from demolishing the home. The IDF stated that the death was due to the restricted angle of view of the IDF Caterpillar D9 bulldozer driver, while ISM eyewitnesses said "there was nothing to obscure the driver's view." A student at the Evergreen State College, she had taken a year off and traveled to the Gaza Strip during the Second Intifada-(source)

"No chance" for a two-state solution in Palestine
Posted by
Nick
There is now "no chance" for a two-state solution in Palestine. So said Haneen Zoabi, a Palestinian member of Israel's parliament, the Knesset, in an interview with The Electronic Intifada:
"The reality goes more toward the one state solution," Zoabi said, "whether a democratic one-state solution, or a binational one-state solution."
Elected in 2009, Zoabi represents the National Democratic Alliance, and is the first woman to be elected on the list of an Arab party in Israel.
"We are struggling for a normal state," Zoabi explained, "which is a state for all of its citizens, [in] which the Palestinians and the Israeli Jews can have full equality. I recognize religious, cultural and national group rights for the Israelis, but inside a democratic and neutral state."-Interview with Knesset member Haneen Zoabi

Facing death on Gaza's border
Posted by
Nick
Three Palestinians have been shot and injured by Israeli troops in recent days while collecting rubble near the Gaza Strip's border with Israel.
Many young Palestinians scour the area to gather the bricks and stones from demolished homes to sell to help them scratch out a living.
A UN report says that at least 25 Palestinians have been killed and scores of others injured by Israeli gunfire along the border since last year. Doctors say about one-third of the victims are under the age of 18.
Human rights groups in Gaza and Israel have threatened to launch a legal challenge over what they describe as Israeli violations of the buffer zone.

Arabs face discrimination in Israel
Posted by
Nick
Discrimination faced by Palestinians living within Israel's borders remains one of the key sticking points in Middle East peace talks.
Umm al-Fahm is a town made up almost entirely of Palestinian Israelis - those who found themselves within the new border when Israel was created in 1948.
Israel's declaration of independence, the equivalent of a constitution, states that all citizens are equal but the one-fifth of the population who are Palestinian, believe they are less equal than others.
