She-Zow! Where's the "Wow"?

Children's cable network The Hub, which is owned by Discovery and toy maker Hasbro is launching its latest cartoon aimed at ages two to 11 - about a gender-bending crime fighter named 'SheZow'.

The show's main character is a 12-year-old boy named Guy, who uses a magic ring to transform himself into his alter-ego - a girl wearing a purple skirt and white go-go boots.-'You Go Girl!' Cartoon network unveils new controversial transsexual character She-Zow!

There was a time when this sort of thing would have the religious right in an uproar, but this doesn't seem to be stirring great controversy. I mean, when all you get is the weak 'Nothing says 'child-appropriate material' quite like gender-bending underage superheroes.' quoted from a critic of the concept at the above article, the only conclusion is we're way past the height of shocked outrage at children's cartoon shows. Nothing like "Mighty Mouse sniffs cocaine" or the "Teletubbies are gay" (even though they are gay), even though those weren't even big events in outrage.
