At the bank I told the teller "I'd like to open a joint account".

The teller asked "With whom?"

I replied: "Whoever has lots of money"

That's the end of the joke, but on a serious note, should anyone have a joint account with someone else? Many if not most married couples do. My mom and dad did in their marriage (which ended when I was eight years old) and it contributed to their divorce. I know a co-worker who insisted on keeping her own separate checking account after she got married and she says it has worked out fine. On the other hand, I had another co-worker who actually decided to choose to have a joint account with her boyfriend.
